What is TRIO? TRIO Programs were established to support the nation’s commitment to provide educational opportunity for all Americans to enter college, graduate, and move on to participate more fully in realizing “America’s Economic and Social Dream”. These Programs are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and are referred to as TRIO Programs because initially there were just three programs Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search and Student Support Services. The number has now expanded to include Educational Opportunity Centers, Ronald E, McNair Post baccalaureate Achievement Program, Upward Bound Math & Science and Veterans Upward Bound. Learn More >>
Talent Search is a college access program that serves youth in grades six through twelve. In addition to counseling, participants receive information about college admission requirements, scholarships, and various student financial aid programs.
Student Support Services (SSS) Program strives to encourage and enhance educational opportunities for undergraduate students by providing academic and personal support to enhance academic skills, increase retention and graduation rates, and as appropriate, facilitate entrance into graduate and professional programs. SSS provides opportunities for academic and personal development by assisting students with college requirements, motivating students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education and promoting graduate school enrollment through individualized coaching and tutoring, at no cost to the student. At present, the SSS Program serves 140 qualified students.
